A group of ten sentenced of online harassment targeting Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has found guilty ten people for perpetrating the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.

The defendants faced allegations of spreading false claims regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to publishing hurtful comments about the husband and wife's age disparity of 24 years.

The court issued conditional custodial sentences of as much as eight months to the convicted individuals. The full ruling has not yet been published.

A circulating unfounded claim claiming that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has existed since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.

This Monday's court decision in France comes as the Macrons engaging in a libel case in the United States of America against political commentator Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted comparable unfounded claims about the Brigitte Macron's identity.

Their legal filing alleges that Owens ignored any factual proof that refuted her assertions choosing instead to platforming known conspiracy theorists.

Owens has regularly repeated these assertions on her podcast and social networks, and in March 2024 stated that she would bet her whole career on her belief that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.

Brigitte Macron initially encountered her future husband when she taught at his secondary school.

The pair entered into matrimony in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
