Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative including angels, demons, and dark forces increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of characters who will split off from the central cast to begin their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise started the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could enable the group access places they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Questers and Schemers groups.
Viewers can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be where in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on next week.
